Washing Recommendations:
A good quality wax jacket is weatherproof and hard wearing as long as you look after it. To extend the life of your wax jacket it's recommended to clean and re-wax from time to time, preferably once/twice a year depending on how often you wear it.

To clean:
Brush with a soft brush to remove any dirt or dust. Spot clean areas by wiping over with a damp (not too wet) sponge and leave to air dry. The inner lining can be spot cleaned with a damp sponge (again not too wet) and you can refresh using a linen spray. Cleaning is easier when the jacket is hanging. Whatever you do, don't put it in a washing machine or send it to the dry cleaners.

To re-wax:
After cleaning, and when the jacket has naturally air dried, lay it on a clean, flat, protected surface. You can use either a tub wax or a wax spray. We recommend Hoggs of Fife own brand. Using a clean dry sponge spread the wax evenly over one side of the jacket, ensuring all seams are well coated, repeat on the other side. Hang the newly waxed jacket away from other fabrics and leave for 24-48 hours for the wax to settle in.
